Description
This Stihl MS461 cylinder kit is a 52mm HYWAY TITANIKEL cylinder and piston assembly for compatible MS461 chainsaws and GS461 concrete-cutting machines. It replaces the cylinder assembly identified by 1128 020 1250 and combines a TITANIKEL-coated bore with a matching conventional piston.
This is the standard 52mm cylinder configuration, not a Pop-Up piston kit. It provides the main cylinder-group components for replacing a scored cylinder, damaged piston or worn piston rings. The complete cylinder-and-piston assembly should be selected by its part reference and engine configuration, not simply by bore diameter.
Compatibility
- Stihl chainsaws: MS461, MS461 R and MS461 Magnum, including corresponding heated-handle and Rescue variants using cylinder assembly 1128 020 1250.
- Stihl concrete-cutting machines: GS461 using the same 52mm cylinder-and-piston assembly.
The GS461 application concerns the engine cylinder group, not the cutting attachment. Other components should still be selected for the individual machine. Likewise, a shared 52mm bore does not make this kit interchangeable with every Stihl cylinder of that diameter.
Kit contents
The kit includes a 52mm TITANIKEL cylinder, matching piston, two piston rings, piston pin and piston-pin circlips. Check the cylinder base gasket, piston-pin bearing, decompression valve and other reused components separately when planning the repair.
This is a HYWAY aftermarket replacement, not an original Stihl cylinder. It is a cylinder-and-piston kit rather than a complete engine rebuild package.
Before installation
Inspect the original components to establish why they failed. Check the intake system, crankshaft seals, bearings, air filter and fuel supply before fitting the replacement. On a concrete-cutting machine, take particular care to prevent abrasive contamination from entering the open engine.
Clean the crankcase, inspect sealing surfaces and use the supplied piston with its matching cylinder. Follow the correct procedure for piston orientation, ring positioning and fastener tightening. After assembly, check engine sealing and carburettor adjustment before returning the machine to service.
