Before ordering, compare the mounting-hole spacing, intake opening, fuel connection, impulse passage, throttle linkage, choke mechanism and adjustment-screw positions. In addition, check the designation on the removed carburetor whenever it remains readable.
A worn carburetor can cause difficult starting, unstable idle, weak acceleration, excessive fuel use or insufficient fuel delivery under load. Nevertheless, similar symptoms may result from a blocked fuel filter, hardened fuel hose, restricted tank vent, leaking intake boot or worn crankshaft seals. Consequently, inspect the complete fuel and intake system before replacing the carburetor.
During installation, use suitable undamaged gaskets and keep the impulse passage clear. Furthermore, confirm that the throttle and choke controls move freely before starting the engine.
After installation, adjust the idle and fuel mixture according to the correct service procedure. Because a mixture that is too lean can overheat the engine and damage the piston, final adjustment with a suitable tachometer is recommended.
