Use new gaskets whenever separating the cylinder, crankcase, intake or exhaust components covered by the set. In addition, replace the crankshaft oil seals when rebuilding the lower engine or correcting an air leak around the crankshaft.
Clean the sealing surfaces thoroughly before assembly. Remove old gasket material without damaging the aluminium surfaces, inspect the crankshaft sealing areas and install the oil seals squarely. Finally, pressure-test the crankcase after assembly before adjusting the carburettor.
