Description
This Stihl FS250 clutch is an aftermarket centrifugal clutch assembly for compatible Stihl brushcutters, clearing saws, backpack machines and related equipment. It replaces a clutch that slips, overheats, engages inconsistently or no longer transfers engine power correctly to the clutch drum and drive shaft.

Clutch function and wear
As engine speed increases, centrifugal force moves the clutch shoes outwards. They then contact the clutch drum and transfer power to the cutting attachment or connected drive mechanism. When the engine returns to idle, the springs pull the shoes inwards and disengage the drive.
Worn friction surfaces or weakened springs can cause clutch slip, excessive heat, delayed engagement or unwanted attachment movement. However, an excessively high idle speed can create similar symptoms. Therefore, check the carburettor adjustment before replacing the clutch.
Before installation, inspect the clutch drum, bearing, drive shaft, engine thread and surrounding housing. Moreover, remove accumulated grass, dust and grease deposits. The listing is for the clutch assembly shown; the clutch drum and unrelated mounting parts are not included unless visible.
