Description

The Stihl MS180 manifold kit is a Winzor aftermarket replacement for the intake connection between the carburetor and cylinder. It fits selected Stihl 017, 018, MS170 and MS180 petrol chainsaws and replaces OEM reference 1130 141 2200.

This component carries the air-and-fuel mixture from the carburetor into the engine. Therefore, it must maintain a secure and airtight connection. Heat, fuel and engine vibration can eventually harden or damage the original manifold. An intake leak can then cause difficult starting, unstable idling, unusually high engine speed, poor acceleration or lean running.

Installation and fitment

Before ordering, compare the OEM number and shape of the original manifold with the product photographs. Stihl produced several chainsaw revisions, so the reference number provides the most reliable fitment check.

During installation, clean the carburetor and cylinder connection surfaces. Next, position the manifold without twisting or pinching it. Fit the plastic rings correctly and tighten the surrounding components evenly. Finally, check that the throttle linkage and fuel hose move freely before reinstalling the air filter and cover.

Inspect the carburetor gasket, fuel hose and impulse passage while the machine is dismantled. Damaged components can create similar starting or running problems. After assembly, start the chainsaw and confirm that the engine maintains a stable idle without increasing speed unexpectedly.
