Description
This Echo SRM-4605 cylinder kit is a 42 mm aftermarket cylinder and piston assembly for compatible ECHO brushcutters and clearing saws fitted with the 45.7 cc engine family.
The ECHO SRM-4605 engine uses a 42.0 mm cylinder bore, a 33.0 mm piston stroke and has a displacement of 45.7 cc. The original cylinder is referenced as 10101147530.
Compatible Echo and Shindaiwa Models
- Echo SRM-4605
- Echo SRM-4510
- Echo SRM-4600
- Shindaiwa B451
- Echo SRM-4605U
- Echo CLS-4610
- Shindaiwa B460
The same OEM cylinder reference 10101147530 is used across these applications.
For accurate identification, compare the model, OEM reference and 42 mm cylinder bore with the engine being repaired.
Echo SRM-4605 Engine Specifications
- Cylinder bore: 42.0 mm
- Piston stroke: 33.0 mm
- Engine displacement: 45.7 cc
- Engine type: 2-stroke petrol
- OEM cylinder reference: 10101147530
- Current piston reference: P021015771

The later P021015771 piston reference replaces P021015770, so either number may appear in parts catalogues or on previous repair documentation.
Cylinder and Piston Replacement
A replacement cylinder and piston are required when the original components have suffered significant wear or mechanical damage.
Typical damage includes:
- Deep scoring on the cylinder wall
- Piston seizure
- Aluminium transfer onto the cylinder surface
- Damaged piston
- Loss of compression caused by cylinder or piston wear
Before fitting the new parts, inspect the crankshaft, connecting rod and small-end bearing.
The cause of the original damage should also be checked. Incorrect carburetor adjustment, intake leaks, damaged crankshaft seals or an incorrect two-stroke fuel mixture can cause the engine to run lean and overheat the piston and cylinder.
Clean the crankcase mounting surface before assembly. Install the piston in the correct direction and position the piston ring against its locating pin before fitting the cylinder.
After assembly, rotate the crankshaft manually through several complete revolutions. The piston should move smoothly throughout the full 33 mm stroke.
