Description
This Husqvarna 143R gearbox is an aftermarket complete lower bevel-gear assembly for brushcutters using the 28 mm tube and 6 × 6 mm square drive-shaft configuration.
It replaces Husqvarna gearbox reference 537295802, which has been superseded by current reference 537295804.

This is the square-drive version. Husqvarna brushcutters have also been produced with other drive-shaft and gearbox arrangements, so the 28 mm tube and square 6 mm shaft are useful checks in addition to the machine model.
Gearbox Function
The lower gearbox changes the direction of rotation from the straight drive shaft to the cutting-attachment spindle.
A worn gearbox can cause:
- Excessive play at the cutting attachment
- Grinding or rattling noises
- Increased vibration
- A seized output spindle
- Irregular rotation of the blade or trimmer head
Before installing a new gearbox, inspect the drive-shaft end. A rounded or damaged square shaft will not engage the new gearbox correctly and can quickly damage the internal drive connection.
Installation Checks
Measure the outer shaft tube before installation. It must be 28 mm, and the inner drive shaft must have the 6 × 6 mm square end.
Slide the gearbox fully onto the shaft tube so the drive shaft engages completely. Tighten the clamp bolts evenly and lubricate the gearbox with suitable bevel-gear grease.
After assembly, turn the output spindle by hand before starting the engine. It should rotate smoothly without binding or excessive free play.
