Description
This STIHL MS260 clutch drum is a rim-drive assembly for compatible STIHL chainsaws using a .325″-pitch, 7-tooth rim sprocket. The package contains the clutch drum, needle bearing and replaceable rim. Therefore, it provides the principal components needed to renew the chain-drive system without reusing a worn sprocket.

Later 026 machines with the adjustable oil-pump drive use this drum style. Earlier 026 versions use a different drum configuration. Consequently, compare the oil-pump drive slot and drum profile before ordering.

The clutch drum receives power when the centrifugal clutch shoes expand against its internal surface. Meanwhile, the rim sprocket drives the chain and allows it to align naturally with the guide-bar groove. Because the rim is replaceable, future sprocket maintenance does not require replacing the drum when the drum remains serviceable.
Before installation, stop the engine and remove the spark-plug cap. Then remove the clutch-side cover, chain and guide bar. Inspect the clutch shoes, crankshaft surface, oil-pump drive and retaining hardware. Also, lubricate the needle bearing lightly with a suitable bearing lubricant before assembly.
This product fits only the stated .325″ 7T configuration. It does not replace a 3/8″-pitch rim or an integrated spur sprocket. Therefore, check the chain pitch, rim tooth count, drum centre and OEM reference carefully.
