Description
This STIHL MS361 clutch is a three-shoe centrifugal assembly for STIHL MS341 and MS361 chainsaws. It replaces a worn clutch that slips under load, engages the chain unevenly or no longer transfers engine power reliably to the clutch drum.

Product details
- Product type: centrifugal chainsaw clutch
- Construction: three clutch shoes
- Spring arrangement: three coil springs
- Centre connection: threaded
- Brand: Winzor
- Condition: new aftermarket replacement
- Package contents: one assembled clutch with shoes and springs
The clutch sits on the engine crankshaft inside the clutch drum. As engine speed rises, centrifugal force moves the three shoes outwards. Consequently, the shoes contact the drum and transfer power to the sprocket and cutting chain.
When the engine returns to idle, the springs retract the shoes. Therefore, the clutch drum and chain can stop while the engine continues running. If the springs weaken or the shoes wear unevenly, the chain may turn at idle, engage harshly or slip during cutting.
However, excessive clutch heat or poor chain drive does not always originate from the clutch itself. Inspect the drum, rim or spur sprocket and needle bearing at the same time. A deeply worn drum surface can damage new clutch shoes, while a seized bearing can create heat and vibration.
Before removal, disconnect the spark-plug lead and lock the piston with an approved service tool or method. Follow the marked removal direction and the service instructions, because chainsaw clutch threads do not use the normal removal direction found on many conventional fasteners.
Do not apply grease or oil to the clutch shoes or the inside of the drum. After installation, rotate the drum by hand and check that it moves freely. Finally, start the saw safely and confirm that the chain remains stationary at the specified idle speed.
