Pulling the handle rotates the starter pulley and engages the engine’s starter drive. After release, the rewind spring returns the rope into the housing. As a result, a damaged spring, worn pulley or broken housing can prevent reliable starting even when the engine itself remains serviceable.

Before ordering, compare the housing shape, mounting-hole positions, centre engagement and pulley direction with the original starter. Model markings alone do not replace this physical comparison because different manufacturers use similar 26cc engine names.

During installation, stop the engine and remove the spark-plug cap. Clean the starter mounting surface and inspect the mating starter cup or pawl system. Then position the assembly without forcing the centre engagement. Tighten the fasteners evenly and test the rope movement before starting the engine. Finally, confirm that the starter disengages immediately after the engine begins running.
