As engine speed increases, centrifugal force moves the three shoes outwards against the inside of the clutch drum. Consequently, the drum and sprocket begin driving the cutting chain. When engine speed returns to idle, the springs retract the shoes and disconnect the drum from the crankshaft.
A worn clutch may slip under cutting load, engage harshly or produce excessive heat around the drum. However, similar symptoms can result from a worn drum, sprocket or needle bearing. Inspect these adjacent components before installing the new clutch.
The centre uses a left-hand thread, while the stamped OFF arrow indicates the removal direction. Therefore, use an appropriate clutch tool and an approved piston-locking procedure. Do not strike the shoes or springs, because impact damage can deform the assembly.
Before ordering, compare the reference, thread, overall diameter and shoe arrangement with the original part. Finally, follow the model-specific installation and tightening instructions.
