Clutch function and wear symptoms

The centrifugal clutch connects the engine to the clutch drum when engine speed increases. The clutch shoes move outwards and contact the drum, which then turns the drive sprocket and chain. When the engine returns to idle, the springs retract the shoes and allow the chain to stop.
